Send Cash with SuperMarket23

IMG_5929 2

SuperMarket23 also provides a way to send cash to people in Cuba, but there is an important thing to know: cash cannot be sent as a standalone transaction.

The cash option is offered as an add-on when you are placing a grocery or other store order. Near the end of the checkout process, SuperMarket23 may give you the option to add cash for the recipient.

I have used this service successfully, and it can be an especially useful way to help because cash gives the family flexibility to deal with whatever they need most at the moment.

How to do it

1. Begin by placing a regular order through https://www.supermarket23.com/en/

2. Select the recipient and add groceries or other items to your cart just as you would for a normal SuperMarket23 order.

3. Proceed through the checkout process.

4. Near the end of the purchase process, look for the option to add cash for the recipient.

5. If the cash option is available for that order and destination, select the amount you would like to send.

6. Review the total cost and complete your purchase.

The cash option may not appear with every order. According to SuperMarket23’s customer support, it is offered only when the particular order and destination qualify for the service.

Why Send Cash?

Sometimes cash is more useful than groceries or other goods because it allows the recipient to decide what is most important at that particular moment.

They may need food purchased locally, transportation, medication, household supplies, repairs, or help with an unexpected expense.

It can also allow them to purchase something locally that may not be available through SuperMarket23.

Fees for Sending Cash

When I have used the service, the fee has been $10 for each $100 in cash sent. In other words, sending $100 in cash has cost me $110.

Because fees and conditions can change, check the amount shown by SuperMarket23 before completing your transaction.

The Cash Option Doesn't Appear?

Don't assume you're doing something wrong.

SuperMarket23 does not offer cash as a standalone service, and the option may appear only when the current order and delivery destination qualify.

If you reach the end of your order and don't see the cash option, simply complete the grocery order without it or try again with a future order.

Recipient Information

Use the same recipient information provided on the Send Groceries with SuperMarket23 page.

If SuperMarket23 asks for an alternative contact, use the alternative contact listed with that person's delivery information.

A Few Tips

You have to purchase something from the SuperMarket23 store before the cash option can become available.

I generally think of the cash as an additional way to help when I am already sending groceries rather than as the reason for placing the order.

As with other SuperMarket23 transactions, if part of the checkout process appears in Spanish, click the small Translate icon in your browser's URL/address bar and choose English.

Check the cash amount and fee carefully before submitting the order.

And don't be concerned if the cash option isn't offered every time. Its availability appears to depend on the particular order and destination.

Thank you for helping our Cuban friends.
