Jump-Start Your iPhone Photography with 1:1 Mentoring
Jump-Start Your iPhone Photography with 1:1 Mentoring

Since I began offering 1:1 iPhone Mentoring sessions nearly 10 years ago, I've worked with scores of iPhone photographers from total beginners to seasoned veterans, addressing dozens of topics including iPhone settings, camera functions, and photograhy techniques to creativity and composition, and editing tools like SnapSeed and Lightroom Mobile.

Whether you are new to iPhone photography, have a new iPhone you'd like to get more familiar with, or are a seasoned veteran who would like to go deeper with editing, crafting, and stylizing using apps like the recently updated SnapSeed, Lightroom Mobile or one of the many stylizing apps for iPhone, these mentoring sessions would serve you well.

Whether you’re just starting out, honing your technical skills, or refining your artistic vision, personalized mentoring can make all the difference. Through one-on-one Zoom sessions, I offer customized guidance designed around your specific goals, interests, and experience.

Each mentoring session is an opportunity to dive deep into what matters most to you — from mastering mobile photography or editing in apps, exploring creative iPhone techniques, or building confidence in the field. We can review and critique your images together or work through editing challenges step-by-step. We can work with my images as examples or we can work with your images to explore crafting options with various tools.

Because these sessions are completely individualized, you set the pace and direction. Whether you prefer a single session to tackle a specific skill or set up a new iPhone, or a series of sessions for ongoing development, I’ll meet you where you are and help you get where you want to go.

How It Works

Mentoring sessions are conducted via Zoom, so you can participate from anywhere in the world.

After scheduling, I'll share a short questionnaire and we'll have a 15 minute intake interview via Zoom or phone so you can help me understand your goals, equipment, and experience level. This ensures our time together is focused and productive.

Sessions are arranged to fit our respective schedules. Multiple sessions can be done over a few days or a few weeks, depending on your preference.

Zoom sessions allow me to share my desktop and iPhone for demonstrations, and depending on your computer equimpent, you may be able to share your iPhone and perform various actions with me looking over your shoulder.

After Each Session You'll Receive:

  • Session notes summarizing what we coverer along with links to any tools or resources introduced
  • A link to the recording of our Zoom session available for you to view and download for up to 30 days after the session.

Potential Topics

You tell me what you'd like to learn and if it's in my wheelhouse, I'll let you know. If it's not, I'll refer you to a trusted colleague who is more knowledgable on that subject.

Topics I've addressed with other photographers over the years include:

  • Determine camera settings for camera formats and functionality to achieve desired results
  • Explore new features that come with a new iPhone or a new operating system
  • Master the native camera features including Photo, Portrait, Pano, Long Exposure, and more
  • Editing and stylizing in SnapSeed. (Note: SnapSeed was updated in June 2025 and has had two updates since at the time of this writing. There are new things to learn and new ways to navigate the inerface that I can share.)
  • Crafting in Lightroom Mobile. This app is, in my opinion, the best app we have for processing all types of photos on our mobile phones, crafting infrared images, converting images to black and white, and doing selectiving editing with its robust Quick Actions and masking features
  • Exploring composition guidelines for creative inspiration and license to break the rules
  • Stylizing for texture, mood, nuance, nostalgia, with various mobile apps, some old and some new, that allow you to make your images uniquely your own

Cost

To accommodate different budgets, experience levels, and needs, I offer three options:

  1. One 90-minute session for $175, suited for those who need a refresher, want to get set up with a new iPhone, or have a focused need to learn a particular app.
  2. Four 60-minute sessions for $425, ideal for structured learning, image review, or progressing through a project or editing workflow.
  3. Seven 60-minute sessions for $700, best for ongoing suport to build skills over time, exploring multiple photo techniques and apps, on-going support, and long-term growth.

Photography is a lifelong journey, and having a guide along the way can help you grow faster, stay inspired, and create images you truly love. If you’re ready to refine your craft and expand your creative vision, I’d love to work with you one-on-one.

What Participants are Saying about 1:1 Mentoring

Your Mentoring sessions were amazing and just the perfect way for me to learn ...  I looked forward to each session and couldn't wait to try out what I'd learned. You made learning fun!
– Mary D, North Carolina

I found Mentoring to be highly educational and Rad to be as entertaining as he is knowledgeable. I would recommend this class to anyone from a beginner to a middling hobbyist like myself who wants to fine-tune their skill and strive to make art from the modest phone photo.
–Tom L., Indianapolis

This is all good information. I appreciate your knowledge, hospitality and patience! Thanks for writing up notes after each session and for taking time to show me the iPhone apps. You've helped me see the world through the eyes of an artist.
– Jimmy A, North Carolina
